SMS Terms of Service
Effective March 31, 2026
1. Program Description
LexMotus ("we," "us," or "our") provides an SMS messaging program as part of its legal practice management platform. Law firms using LexMotus may send text messages to their clients for purposes including, but not limited to: case status updates, appointment reminders, document request notifications, court date reminders, and other communications related to their legal matter.
2. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on the nature and stage of your legal matter. You may receive anywhere from one message per month to several messages per week, depending on your case activity. Recurring messages will continue until you opt out.
3. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Your carrier's standard messaging rates apply to all messages sent and received. LexMotus does not charge for sending or receiving text messages, but your mobile carrier may charge fees. Contact your carrier for details about your messaging plan.
4. Opt-In / Consent
By providing your mobile phone number to your law firm as part of your legal engagement, you consent to receiving text messages from LexMotus on behalf of your law firm regarding your legal matter. Consent is obtained through one or more of the following methods:
- Client intake form: When you provide your phone number and check the "I consent to receive text messages regarding my case" box on your law firm's intake form (paper or digital).
- Engagement letter or retainer agreement: When the engagement letter you sign includes a provision consenting to SMS communication.
- Verbal consent: When you verbally authorize your law firm to send text messages during a consultation, phone call, or meeting. Your firm documents this consent in their case management system.
- Text-in / reply consent: When you initiate contact by texting your firm's LexMotus number, your reply constitutes consent to receive responses and follow-up messages.
Consent is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. You may revoke consent at any time by following the opt-out instructions below.
For full details on how consent is collected and managed, see our SMS Consent & Opt-In Policy.
5. Opt-Out Instructions
You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by texting STOP to the number from which you received a message. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.
You may also opt out by:
- Contacting your law firm directly and requesting removal from SMS communications.
- Emailing us at support@lexmotus.com with the subject "SMS Opt-Out" and your phone number.
Opting out of SMS does not affect any other communication channels (email, phone) between you and your law firm.
6. Help
For assistance, text HELP to the number from which you received a message. You will receive a reply with contact information and a link to these terms. You may also contact us at support@lexmotus.com.
7. Supported Carriers
Messages are supported on all major US carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and their subsidiaries. LexMotus is not responsible for messages that are delayed or undelivered due to carrier issues.
8. Privacy
We respect your privacy. Phone numbers and message content are used solely for the purpose of facilitating attorney-client communication. We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or message data with third parties for marketing purposes. For complete details, see our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these SMS Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the messaging program or via your law firm. Continued receipt of messages after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
